liVARpool - VAR has to be fixed
Photo by Pixabay from Pexels.com Recently, there are a handful bad decisions related to the usage of Video Assistant Referee ( VAR ) in the English Premier League . The intention of VAR is clear. It is to minimize human error, specifically from the referees (one referee and 2 linemen). By replaying the video, referee has closer looks at incidents, and make better decisions. The straw that broke the camel's back is that a human is reviewing the video. Hence there are still opportunities for human errors. On October 17, 2020 , Everton was playing Liverpool . Liverpool has a disallowed goal towards the end of the match. It is match winner goal. image from https://www.caughtoffside.com Liverpool's striker was caught offside. Looking at this image (below), I cannot figure out why. And, look at the lineman's flag and it was down. When we have VAR , we are using technology to assist us. Why not use it to figure out offside?
